The Alpine HCE-TCAM1-WRA Solution
The Alpine HCE-TCAM1-WRA is custom rear-vision camera system that incorporates an optimally-angled camera mounting bracket with an integrated third brake light and a reverse light. It is all housed in a single assembly that is designed specifically for 2007 and up Jeep Wrangler (JK) vehicles. The system includes a water-resistant backup camera with an IP66 rating.
Custom Mounting Solution
For a backup camera to work properly, it needs a clear field of view of the area behind your vehicle. In some applications, the options are limited. In the case of Jeep Wranglers with a full-size spare tire on the tailgate, the ideal mounting location is in the center of the wheel. Normally, this is not a convenient location to mount a camera. However, the product development team at Alpine decided to embrace the opportunity and created the HCE-TCAM1-WRA.
The camera kit includes a mounting adapter that fits over the three wheel studs that secure the spare tire. Three different mounting posts are included to provide compatibility with a variety of different factory and aftermarket wheel options. Once the bracket is in place, and the spare tire is secured, the camera bracket is held in place using a supplied wheel nut.
Vehicle Integration Options
When used with the Alpine i109-WRA Restyle kit or any other iDataLink Maestro integration solution, the installation is essentially plug-and-play. For other applications, the quick connector can be removed, and the control wires for the reverse light and third brake light can be wired manually. Once installed, the lighting works in conjunction with the vehicle controls and the camera image is displayed as soon as the transmission is shifted into reverse.
