A client from Toms River recently visited Auto Image in Brick to inquire about new 2017 Jeep Wrangler wheels and a suspension upgrade. We had a look at his Jeep and discussed where and how he would be driving it. After looking through several of our wheel and suspension component catalogs, we came up with a plan to give this Jeep an aggressive-looking upgrade.
Suspension Leveling Kit
We installed a Trail FX J15LL1 leveling kit on the front of the Jeep to provide extra clearance for the new Wrangler wheels and tires we’d be installing. This kit includes a set of 1.5-inch fabricated steel spacers that mount between the front strut bearing and the inner fender. After removing the wheels and tires from the Jeep, our technicians installed the spacer and the included hardware, then torqued all the fasteners to spec.
Jeep Wrangler Wheels and Tires
The client chose a set of Fuel Maverick D538 wheels in a 20-inch diameter. The 10-inch wide wheels have an aggressive -24 mm offset and feature a deep lip for a rugged look. The flat black finish on the wheels is accented by machined edges on the spokes and hex-head fasteners around the periphery of the rim for a bead-lock type look.
We mounted a set of AMP Terrain Pro tires sized at 305/55-20 on the Fuel wheels using our Hunter Revolution tire mounting machine. The Hunter machine ensures that nothing will damage the inner or outer lip of the wheel while installing these 33.2-inch tall tires. Once mounted and inflated, we bring each assembly to our Hunter Road Force Touch balancing machine. The Road Force balancer puts up to 1,250 pounds of pressure on the tire to make sure it is seated perfectly on the bead before starting the balancing process. Our investment in this Hunter equipment helps to ensure our clients have the smoothest, safest ride possible.
Jeep Wrangler Upgrades
After a few hours of work, it was time to return the Jeep to the client. He was thrilled with the new stance of the vehicle and loved the look of the Fuel wheels and AMP tires. We let him know that we’d like to re-torque the lug nuts after 100 miles of driving and that he could drop by anytime.
